    A Brief Introduction of the Department of Media & Communication in China Agricultural University (CAU)

  媒体传播系成立于2001年4月,并于当年开始招收传播学专业本科生,是中国第一批设立传播学专业的高等院校,并于2005年开始招收传播学专业硕士研究生。教学和学术研究范围主要包括乡村传播学、影视传播和应用传播学等领域,初步形成以农业与乡村传播为特色,以影视媒体传播为重点,应用传播学与理论传播学相互促进,新闻传播、网络传播、广告传播与媒介经营管理协调发展的整体学科构架,旨在培养具有人文社会科学素养,能够驾驭现代媒体技术的文理交叉、技艺结合、具有深厚的理论基础和实践能力的研究型和高级复合型传播人才。
  

  The Department of Media & Communication in CAU was founded in April 2001, and has since then enrolled students annually. CAU was one of the first universities of its kind to set up the communication major in China and start to enroll postgraduates since 2005.
   The teaching and academic concentrations of the department include the rural communication, television broadcasting, film studies, journalism, editing and publishing, new media, advertisement and media management, aiming at producing advanced multi-skilled talents who are well trained in the media technology, humanities and social sciences with profound theoretical bases and practical abilities.
 

  • 师资力量  TEACHING STAFF

  经过十年的学科建设,媒体传播系的师资结构不断优化,一支高学历、博士化、年轻化的师资力量正在形成。现拥有专任专业教师19位,高级专业技术职称12位,硕士生导师10人。其中,拥有博士学位的教师数量占60%以上,拥有硕士学位占95%以上。教师的专业技术和方向涵盖了传播学、新闻学、广播电视艺术学、电影学、文学、广告学、教育技术学等学科领域。此外,我系还聘请了来自北京电影学院、人民日报、中央电视台等国内外知名高校、媒体的兼职教授5人,顾问12人。
 

    After years of development, the department has employed 19 full-time teaching staff, 10 of whom are supervisors of graduates. Besides, the department has 5 adjunct professors and 12 advisors who have been invited from Renmin University of China, Beijing Film Academy, People's Daily, CCTV and other famous media in China.

  

  • 研究成果  RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENTS

  近年来,媒体传播系教师承担了国家级项目2项,部级研究项目12项,校级研究项目10余项。出版学术专著近20部,其中《乡村传播学》在国内率先提出了“中国乡村传播学”的理论架构,在传播学研究领域有较大影响。全系师生发表学术论文140余篇,其中CSSCI期刊与核心期刊80余篇。创作的各类电视片在国际国内获得了七十余项奖励。正式出版音像教材30余部。

  In recent years, the teachers in the department have undertaken 2 national projects, 12 ministerial projects, and more than 10 projects of university level. They published more than 20 academic monographs. Rural Communication Studies was the first to propose a theoretical framework for the rural communication studies, which had a huge impact on the China’ communication studies at the time of its publication. The staff of the department has published more than 140 essays, and over 80 were published on CSSCI and Core journals. The TV series of various kinds produced by the department have won over 70 awards at home and aboard. More than 30 audiovisual materials have been formally released.

 

  • 教学成果(科研、学术深造、得奖)  TEACHING ACHIEVEMENTS

  媒体传播系自成立十年来,学生在学习实践的过程中取得了丰硕的成果。共在CSSCI、核心期刊发表学术论文20余篇,参与编辑出版著作5部,正式报刊发表文章150余篇,在电视台播出电视作品20余部,在校内各种媒体上发表各类作品2200余篇。

  学生制作的影视纪录片作品多次荣获中国纪录片国际选片会、全国科技DV影像大赛、中国•西安国际民间影像节、国际大学生新媒体文化节等国内外知名纪录片大赛的重要奖项。其中,《重影——乡土中国系列纪录片》获得第二届中国•西安国际民间影像节“校园文化”主题单元组委会大奖,吴启慧、顾瞳瞳拍摄的《地铁人生》获得首届国际大学生新媒体文化节暨“我与奥运”北京—伦敦连线视频大赛特等奖。此外,高徽同学拍摄的《泥娃娃(Clay Doll)》还入围联合国不同文明联盟和国际移民组织UN-AOC(United Nations Alliance of Civilizations)的PLURAL + 2010影像节决赛,李学刚同学在第十七届北京大学生电影节主持人选拔赛中获得冠军。
  学生创作的影视和广播广告作品也先后多次获得时报广告金犊奖、中国大学生广告大赛等的重要奖项。其中,蓝凯丽、王柳新、谢彤华、张议文同学拍摄的《不知道的下一个》在2012第三届现代汽车大学生营销创意大赛中获得视频广告银奖。

 

  The students in the department have made great achievements in the process of their studies and practices. They have published more than 20 essays on CSSCI and Core journals, more than 150 essays on official newspapers, more than 2200 essays on a variety of campus media. In addition, they have been actively involved in the editing and publishing of 5 academic monographs, and more than 20 audiovisual works they made have been broadcast on TV.

  The students’ TV documentary works have won numerous awards on various occasions: International Selection Conference of China Documentary Film, National Science and Technology DV Contest, Xi'an–China International Folk Video Festival and International Collegiate New Media Cultural Festival, etc. The Ghosting – Rural China Documentary Film Series won the Organizing Committee Award in the unit of “Campus Culture” in the 2nd Xi'an–China International Folk Video Festival. Subway Life made by Qihui Wu and Tongtong Gu won the Special Award in the unit of “Olympic & I” London–Beijing Connection Video Contest in the first session of the International Collegiate New Media Cultural Festival. Besides, Clay Doll shot by Hui Gao had been shortlisted in the final contest of PLURAL + 2010 Video Festival organized by UN-AOC (United Nations Alliance of Civilizations). Xuegang Li, a student from the department took the first place in the Moderator Trials for the 17th Beijing University Students’ Film Festival.

  The television and radio advertisements produced by the students in the department have won many awards at such contests as Times Advertisement Golden Calf Prize and Advertisement Competition for Chinese University Students. The works The Unknown Next shot by Kaili Lan, Linxin Wang, Tonghua Xie, and Yiwen Zhang won the Silver Prize for the video advertising in the 3rd Hyundai Motor Students’ Creative Marketing Contest in 2012.
 

  • 深造就业   FURTHER EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT

  媒体传播系毕业生的深造率达到50%以上,遍及美国纽约大学、天普大学、波士顿大学、德州A&M大学、迈阿密大学、密歇根大学、英国拉夫堡大学、日本早稻田大学、香港大学、香港中文大学、清华大学、北京大学、中国人民大学、北京电影学院、中国传媒大学等国内外知名学府。同时,我系其他毕业生主要在国内知名新闻媒体机构、出版机构、中央和地方政府及企事业单位的宣传部门、教育部门、农业技术推广等部门以及国际知名4A广告公司和公关公司,从事编导、记者、主持、广告、公关、管理等方面的工作。

   Up to 50% of the graduates from the department choose further education. They go on to various famous universities at home and aboard like New York University, Temple University, Boston University, Texas A & M University, University of Miami, University of Michigan, University of Loughborough (UK), Waseda University (Japan), the University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Beijing Film Academy, and Communication University of China, etc. At the same time, our graduates work as editors, publishers, reporters, program designers, advertisement designers, PR personnel, managers, etc. in many famous news media organizations, publishing houses, the propaganda departments, education departments, agricultural technology promotion departments of the central and local governments and enterprises, as well as the international 4A advertising agencies and public relations firms.
